At the National Law Enforcement Officer Hall of Fame, we believe their stories deserve to be told, their accomplishments celebrated, and their legacies preserved for generations to come.

We are proudly accepting nominations for the 2027 National Law Enforcement Officer Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which will take place in Lexington, Kentucky.

NOMINATION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 31, 2026

Who Can Be Nominated?

Anyone may submit a nomination recognizing an individual whose service, character, achievements, or contributions have positively impacted the law enforcement profession or the communities it serves.

Eligible nominees include:

  • Sworn law enforcement officers of any rank
  • Non-sworn law enforcement personnel
  • Retired law enforcement professionals
  • Individuals who have made extraordinary contributions in support of law enforcement
  • Law enforcement K9 partners

Nominations are welcomed from law enforcement agencies and communities throughout the United States and Canada.

What Makes an Outstanding Nominee?

Honorees are selected by an independent, anonymous Inductee Selection Board, which carefully evaluates each nomination based on the individual’s accomplishments, character, dedication, and lasting impact.

Consideration may include, but is not limited to:

  • Above and Beyond: Exceptional service exceeding the ordinary expectations of duty.
  • Courage and Valor: Remarkable bravery, heroism, or selflessness in the face of danger.
  • Professional Excellence: Outstanding achievements and meaningful contributions to the law enforcement profession.
  • Community Impact: Innovative approaches to community engagement, relationship-building, and public service.
  • Career Achievement: A distinguished record of leadership, integrity, commitment, and professional accomplishment.
  • Commitment to Fellow Officers: Extraordinary dedication to the safety, wellness, and well-being of law enforcement colleagues.
  • Resilience and Perseverance: Exceptional endurance, survival, or determination through extraordinary circumstances.
  • Inspirational Character: Professional or personal conduct that exemplifies the highest ideals of law enforcement.

Not every hero wears a medal, and not every remarkable career makes headlines. We encourage nominations that recognize both extraordinary individual acts and a lifetime of quiet, dedicated service.

Award Categories

Nominees may be considered for recognition in several distinguished categories, including:

  • Never Forgotten Award
  • Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Trainer of the Year Award
  • School Resource Officer of the Year Award
  • Career Achievement Award
  • Distinguished Service Award
  • Courage in Service Award
  • Partners in Service Award
  • Young Officer Award
  • K9 Award

Suggested award categories help identify the nature of a nominee’s accomplishments. Final recognition and award selections are determined through the Inductee Selection Board’s review process.

How to Submit a Nomination

A meaningful nomination tells a story. We encourage nominators to provide enough detail to help the Selection Board understand who the nominee is, what they have accomplished, and why their contributions deserve national recognition.

Please include the following information whenever available:

  1. Years of Service: The nominee’s agency affiliation, position, and length of service.
  2. Professional Service Record: Relevant information regarding the nominee’s career, professional conduct, integrity, and service to the community.
  3. Awards and Recognition: Previous honors, commendations, awards, or professional achievements, if applicable.
  4. Community Impact: Specific examples of how the nominee has positively influenced their agency, colleagues, or community.
  5. Supporting Information: Any additional details, documents, testimonials, or examples that demonstrate why the nominee deserves recognition.

We encourage thoughtful, detailed submissions. Supporting information helps the Selection Board appreciate the full scope of a nominee’s contributions.
